Summer, Vienna, Babies & Birkenstocks

Oh dear

Its a long long time since I posted anything here at all and I doubt anybody ever checks to see this anymore but hey I'll post a few titbits about life here in Austria.

First of all I have to plug my brothers new website. Perhapps google will crawl me and bump up his position. Who knows. So here it is. He is selling cheap Birkenstocks at http://solecentral.com. I've been helping him set up an internet presence using the fairly easy to use Mambo PHP shop. It does have it's quirks and we have had to tweak the code a little to make it do what we want but that is the joy of open source. He goes live in the next few days so flock to his site and get those Birks :)

Well the big news for me is that 3 months ago Evelyn and I found out that we were pregnant. A big shock for us but we have settled into the idea and now I can't wait till the little monster arrives. Previously I was blind to babies, prams and maternity products and now it seems as if a whole alternate universe has slipped sideways into mine and I can now participate in this whole new fun game. Suddenly I see babies everywhere and they all look so cute and fun and I can't wait till ours gets here. Still patience is a virtue and it is a wonder watching the little bump on Evelyn's tummy slowly rounding out. Today we went shopping for big pants ( not in the UK sense ok ). Evelyn has finally given into the fact that her petite little jeans no longer fit and are actually quite painfull to wear :)

On other fronts I'm packing in the consulting business and going back to work for the man. Should be fun and I will get to meet more people and learn more things than I do pimping myself on the internet for odd jobs. I've now had a couple of job offers and have to make up my mind pretty soon but it will be back into embedded systems programming for me. Low level and dirty, just how I like it :)

What else .... Summer in Austria was great. Mountain hiking, rock climbing and swimming in crystal ( though chilly ) mountain lakes was the order of the season. Now it has turned chilly, the leaves have turned yellow to gold and winter is slipping slowly but surely apon us. Winter here as apposed to the UK is not something to be feared because we have SNOW and I will be sure to dust off last seasons snowboard purchase and put it to good use. Evelyn is adamant she will be skiing this winter even with the baby at 6 months. We'll see how that is when it is. Hopefully we will all be able to enjoy some snow fun together but I'm not sure how confident I would be with a little baby package strapped to my front whilst hurtling down a mountain. Much respect to women and mothers in general allready! Evelyn has had the morning sickness really bad bad has remained pretty brave and non-complaining about it. If it was me puking every morning I would be bitching and moaning about it fairly loudly.

Gotta run. Hopefully I will do some more updates more frequently.
